I think I had like 854 come to Jesus moments this week! Being a little missionary girl is so hard! There were so many times that I had zero motivation this week! SO many lessons learned this week!
First of all, pride. It is so real! The Book of Mormon is proof that it truly is the great stumbling block of mankind. It is so easy to see what other missionaries are doing wrong, that sometimes I wear blinders and miss the things that I need to change. I was brought to sore repentance this week and I know that the only cure for pride is charity! The biggest motivator in missionary work HAS to be love. You can't desire anyone's salvation for yourself. You have to want it for them, and it has to be God's will. Love has to be the motivator, because if I learned anything this week, it's that your circumstances will not always be ideal, but attitude is everything!
We were in Dubois this week and I was just so done. It seemed like every single odd was not in my favor. I missed my family. I missed my friends. Our area is slow, and I didn't want to do the exact same thing we did everyday...again. Then I started thinking about all the things that could be left undone when I get transferred. I was worrying about who my next companion would be, where my next area would be, and even how my life would be after my mission. It was causing me so much anxiety. Then a quote was brought to my remembrance:
“If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.”
I just love that quote! We have to make the most of the time we have RIGHT NOW! I need to love the people, love my trials, and most importantly I need to love my Savior! After all, it is because of Him that I can become the person I need to be. I am trying to make the most of the rest of the transfer. I am praying for charity with all my heart!
I love you and would invite all of you to be a little more present this week! Ask Heavenly Father for your daily manna. Ask Him what you can do to be an answer to someone else's prayer. Oh, and read your scriptures!
All my love,
Anzie
