Week 32

Hey everyone!

This was a very bitter sweet week. I had to say goodbye to my companion, Sister Latu! We packed a LOT of fun in those 4 weeks we were together. Her conversion story is amazing, and I know it will continue to bless the lives of others, just as it has blessed mine.

Yesterday was just packed with miracles. First we met with our investigator Emma. We met her while tabling at the union. Basically tabling is when we sit there and offer people candy to fill out a survey. It's pretty cool because we get to talk with a lot of people. Anyway, we taught her the Restoration and she is going to start reading the Book of Mormon. She seems really willing to keep commitments, so I am pretty excited!

Then we had a lesson with our investigator Daniel. He reached out to us a couple weeks ago. He has met with missionaries before, but felt too pressured to be baptized. He told us he hit rock bottom and that he is ready for some spiritual light. We had a very spiritual lesson with him. It was one of those where I felt really unprepared. I didn't feel like we should just teach him one of the main lessons, but that he needed something else. He told us that he didn't know how to discern his thoughts from the Holy Ghost, so we watched the Mormon Message series "Patterns of Light." We also read Ether 12. I really think that he knows what we are teaching is true, but we just have to help him realize it. He kept talking about aligning his will with God's will. We read Ether 12 and talked about how sometimes it is hard to have faith in God's will, but when we trust Him, He helps us become strong. I just love the Book of Mormon. I love how one chapter can apply to many different circumstances. I just know the Book of Mormon was written for our day, and that it truly helps us align our will with God's.

So then another great thing that happened was that someone reached out to meet with us. That just doesn't happen too often, so I was pumped. Her name is Paris. She came to church a couple weeks ago, and we didn't realize she wasn't a member until gospel principles when she said she loves our church and feels a sense of belonging. She wanted to talk with her family over spring break. I honestly didn't know if we would hear from her again after that, but yesterday she texted us and asked to meet. We have a lesson with her at 8 tonight and she said that she's really excited, and that makes me REALLY excited! I just love being a little missionary girl!
I also just want to mention how thankful I am that there are so many worthy priesthood leaders. Even when I am away from the one's in my family that I can still access it. I was able to get a blessing from an Elder in my district this week and it was just a wonderful reminder of how well Heavenly Father knows our hearts. Then we had a member have some tragic things happen this week and we were able to ask two random guys at the institute to give the member a blessing. I just thought it was so wonderful that they were worthy enough to serve at the drop of a pin.

I would invite you all to watch the mormon message called "The Will of God" Try to think of something you could do to align your will a little more with God's will. Really everything we have is from God and it already belongs to him. The only thing he doesn't have is our own will. I promise that He will make you into more than you could ever imagine! Week 31: Sister Gish Hits 7 Months!

Hey Y'all!

This week was pretty slow due to spring break and crazy due to Wyoming's bipolar weather!

On Wednesday we went on exchanges! It was so fun, because we got to celebrate Sister Sperry's birthday! We got to their house before they did, so we snuck in and decorated and surprised her when she got home! I got to go on exchanges with Sister Blackmon! Bless that girl's heart... I just love her! We laugh constantly! Then we exchanged back and as we were heading home it started snowing! It was crazy! The highway was closed, so we drove 2 hours to take the back way and the back way was closed. So, we just graced the STL's with our presence for one more night. It wasn't bad. The road was still closed a majority of the day, but we finally made it back to Laradise!

On Friday, I hit my 7 month mark! This has been the fastest, hardest, but most rewarding time of my life! I am forever changed by this sacred opportunity!

I just want to share a scripture I came across in the Book of Mormon this week! It's in Helaman 4:15. It says "And it came to pass that they did repent, and inasmuch as they did repent they did begin to prosper."

Last week I invited you to forgive, but this week I would invite you to ask for forgiveness from your Father in Heaven. He is anxiously waiting to hear your prayers! If I have learned anything these past 7 months, it's that repenting daily truly is key to prospering in this world of increasing wickedness!

I love you all oodles!

Week 30

Hey y'all! this week was super random, so this weekly will probably be too!

On Wednesday we were really excited because we had a less active reach out to us! We were so excited that we wanted to meet, but when we got to her house, she only wanted us to watch her pets over spring break. I was excited because she has a super cute bunny, but then she pulled out her GIANT rat and asked if we could watch him too. I am sure the looks on mine and Sister Latu's faces were priceless. Then last night we went to feed them and the bunny ran accross the floor and we both started screaming!

Thursday was zone conference! It was AMAZING! It was about the power of the Book of Mormon. I am thankful for the Book of Mormon and for the fullness of truth that it brings into my life! I know it is true!

Yesterday, we had someone call us and say that they wanted to meet with us. I'm not gonna lie, I thought we were being pranked. Then he met us at the institute and we had a lesson with him. It was pretty amazing. He said he had a broken heart and a contrite spirit and that he was seriously searching for the truth! It was pretty powerful!

I just want to leave you with a thought that has been on my mind. There was a quote on our fridge in Lander that said "Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace." As much as I love that quote, I can't help but feel like everyone does deserve forgiveness. Even as Christ was hanging on the cross he said "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." I am thankful for a Heavenly Father and a Savior who have forgiven me many times in my unworthiness. It has certainly been a source of peace in my life. Find that peace for yourself through the healing power of forgiveness.

I love you all!

Week 29: Sister Gish On Campus

Hey Guys!

This week has been pretty good! Things are a bit slow here in Laradise, so we are trying to turn that around! We have mostly been trying to contact less actives!

Let me share something funny that happened this week. So we went tabling at the union. Basically we sit at a table and try to get people to fill out a survey on whether or not they'd be interested in investigating the church. We aren't really allowed to talk to people unless they approach our table, so we try to get members to come and talk to people. It was really funny because this week, a couple members filled out fake surveys! If you want a good laugh you should read them! I'll attach them at the bottom. We texted the numbers they put and we realized it was numbers of some other members in the YSA!

Other than that, I don't have a lot to report! I am having so much fun with Sister Latu! I will be sad to see her leave in a couple weeks! I've just been thinking about how we need to always remember who we serve! If we aren't actively serving Christ and being idle, we can easily fall into Satan's trap and believe that there is no room for improvement. Satan wants us to be miserable just like him. In fact the only thing he has in common with Christ is that they both want us to become like they are. So my invitation to you all is to choose to be like Christ! "His way is the path to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come!" (The Living Christ)

I love you all! Have a great week!
